phones far more than those with WAP browsers which areless
than 5% of the market. Furthermore, new research shows
the use of text messaging is growing in the United States
at over 200% per quarter.
SMS vs Emails to mobile phones
SMS is 10 times more powerful than email to SMS according
to research done by Nokia Enterprise Solutions. Over 70%
of mobile devices lack technology to receive mobile email
and in most cases WAP services are required to download
email sent to a mobile device making those remaining 30%
of phones capable of receiving email less than 7%. In
addition email to mobile devices is carrier dependant

Creating a Keyword
This is the very first step in establishing your new marketing
/ communication campaign. Your Keyword is the “text”
a mobile user will use to sign up or “opt-in”
to get the content you specify as a response. For example
you might want customers to get information about your
company when they send in your “Short Code”
(ACME) utilizing a mobile device and you can send them
back an automated message that tells them about your company
(ACME products and services in New York 555-1234). The
“Short Code” is the identifier that mobile
users send in to get designated responses you provide.
Participants utilizing your Short Code are also collected
in your inbox to be replied to, managed and/or organized
in groups for future messaging.
Start by creating your Short Code, and
then create the text you want someone to receive
when they use your Short Code.
Other options when your create your short code are:
"List your Keyword in the
directory”. This will allow web based opt-in users
the ability to sign up for your SMS announcements, coupons,
and events. These participants will appear in your inbox
similar to that of any mobile user sending in the text
but with more information that might include, name, gender,
zip code and email.
“Send inbox responses to a URL”. For web masters
or the web savvy you can push content sent in by mobile
users directly to a web or URL address.
“Create an opt-in form for your website”.
Copy and past this simple code into your web site to pass
the contents of a simple opt-in form from your web site
to your TellMYCell inbox and contact list for future messaging.
Sending SMS
TellMYCell allows you to send a message
to one contact, groups of contacts or all your contacts
at once or at a scheduled time. To send a message, click
the “send” icon at the top of the page or
choose “send SMS” from the main menu. TellMYCell does not have spell check, but a verification page is
provided to check your content and your recipient list
prior to allowing you to send the final approved message.
Once a message is sent, delivery is fairly instant and
can not be stopped. Remember to check your message, check
it twice…
Anti-Spam Service! (SPIM)
TellMYCell is an Anti-Spam (SPIM for
mobile content) service. In utilizing TellMYCell you agree
and warrant that all contacts have given you permission
to send SMS content to their mobile device. TellMYCell reserves
the right to terminate your account without notice and
immediately upon any indication of Spamming. TellMYCell will
cooperate with all state and federal officials in the
prosecution of Spam violators.
Create Message
Create your message of up to 145
characters. Click in the Message area of the “Send
Notification ” page to type in the body of your
message. Note the Characters left indicator to make sure
that you do not go over the allotted number of characters
in your message. Choose a group or individual to send
your message to then click Send SMS. You will be prompted
to verify both your message content and your recipient
list. Upon one last approval click your message will
be send immediately. If you want to schedule a repeat
message goto the “schedule message” tool from
the main menu. You can also schedule messages
for delivery at a future date and time with options such
at daily, monthly, weekly and yearly.
Contact Management
From the main contact page you can choose to; send a message
to a contact, edit a contact, add a contact to a group,
and delete a contact.
Add
Contacts
Contacts can be entered one at a time or imported. To
add contacts click on the Contacts icon at the left hand
side of page, and then click "ADD NEW CONTACTS"
icon. A form is provided to enter up to 5 new contacts
at a time. Several fields are available for reports but
only one is required, the mobile number. You can import
text data by choosing the “import” option.
Again, the only required field is the mobile number.
Groups
Groups allow you to manage bulk SMS and MMS recipients.
You can create and manage groups from the main page the
Inbox and Contacts area.
Schedule Messages
From the main menu choose “Calendar”.
You can set your message to repeat daily, once a week,
once a month, or Monday through Friday. The scheduling
feature is great for "set-it and forget it"
messages like sports schedules, work shift reminders,
words, anniversaries, birthdays, jokes and thoughts of
the day, or other recurring content. From the Calendar
page you can view and manage scheduled messages.
Inbox
This is the management
hub of your TellMYCell account. Every mobile user that
sends in your opt-in “Short Code” is placed
in your Inbox. A unique feature of the TellMYCell service
is what we call message trafficking. For example if you
set up the short code “ACME” and your mobile
participant sends in the text “ACME yes”
you will get the full message in your Inbox. This is
an important feature because it gives the ability to target
responses direct to each individual SMS campaign. If
you want to know who in your company is going to the company
picnic you can ask everyone to respond back with the text
“ACME picnic” and all responders will end
up in your Inbox. You can then setup the group by selecting
all these responders and creating the group ACME Picnic
attendees.
From your Inbox you can respond directly to an
individual recipient, mark messages are read, delete messages
and recipients to groups.
Message Credits
View
your message credit status on the right side of the main
page just below the TellMYCell header. There you will find
your remaining credits, the number of messages still available
in your TellMYCell account. You can also add more Message
Credits by clicking the Upgrade Now button or from your
“Account Management” window. From your account
management window you can upgrade your account, join community
clubs and manage users.
Log-Out
The
log out link appears at the top of every page. Click this
link to log out of TellMYCell and finish your session.
